What they said - Coaches

Only two teams have won the grand final away from home in the last 20 years. What are the coaches saying about the upcoming final showdown?

Frank Bright (Cowra) - Cowra Guardian, 30 August 2010.

“In two weeks time you’re going to see one of the most determined Cowra outfits that’s ever been on the park and we’ll make sure we get this job done,” Bright said.

“If all 20 guys play good footy then no-one can get near us and I’ll make sure everyone is switched on for the grand final so we’re pumped again and we’ll really give it to them.

“We’ve probably given ourselves an 80 per cent more chance of winning the grand final now that it will be at home.”

Bright said after the game that his backline was brilliant and deserved all the praise for the win despite being ‘a bunch of misfits’.

“It’s no disrespect to them, but we’ve got a bunch of misfits in the backline who have been thrown together and now they’re the best backline in the competition,” he said.

“We just got blokes that are willing to go and go and go and there’s no giving up in this team.

Brian Matheson (Bathurst) - Cowra Guardian, 30 August 2010.

“We know they are a front-running side. When they get in front they are very hard to pin down. We know the first-quarters are pivotal against these guys,” he said.

"I've got no doubt that if we get off to a good start there’s no reason why we can’t beat them.”

BY ANYA WHITELAW, 5 September 2010

WHILE the Orange Tigers ultimately came up short in Saturday’s Reliance Petroleum Central West AFL preliminary final against the Bathurst Bushrangers, their last game of season 2010 still reflected the improvement they had made since first lacing up their boots back in April. [Full story]
